I’ve only been playing the Venezuelan Cuatro a little over a year, and only recently began to study the Venezuelan technique of “frenados”
– I find myself practicing every day and looking forward to times in the day when I can practice.
So I’ve read in Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Outliers” that it takes 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to achieve mastery at just about anything. So to be a master on the Cuatro I need to practice 5 hours a day for the next 5 years…
The only thing I think I have any real mastery of is my voice, and I still wrestle with it on occasion as well.
So… that said, I’ll probably just be a “good” Cuatro player for a while… 🙂
